By accessing or using NorthStar AI ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and NorthStar AI. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use NorthStar. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
NorthStar AI is an AI-powered career coaching platform designed for students and early-career professionals. The Service includes:
All AI features are powered by the Anthropic Claude API. Results are generated by artificial intelligence and are provided for informational and career-development purposes only. They do not constitute professional career or legal advice. NorthStar AI makes no guarantee of employment outcomes.
You must register for an account to use most features. You agree to provide accurate, complete information when registering and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Do not share your password with anyone. Notify us immediately at franklin10@ptd.net if you believe your account has been compromised.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse, or have been inactive for an extended period.
You agree to use NorthStar AI only for lawful, personal career-development purposes. You may not:

Pro Plan: $9.99/month. Cancel anytime from your Settings page — no penalties, no questions asked. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
The NorthStar Pro plan is billed at $9.99 per month via Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Free-tier users receive 3 resume analyses and 2 interview prep sessions per calendar month at no cost.
By subscribing, you authorize NorthStar to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis. Charges appear on your statement as "NorthStar AI." Subscription renewal occurs automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new Pro subscribers. If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of your first paid subscription, contact us at franklin10@ptd.net and we will issue a full refund — no questions asked.
After the 7-day window, refunds are not issued for partial billing periods. Canceling stops future charges; you retain Pro access until your current period ends.
Refunds for annual plans are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 14 days of purchase.
NorthStar AI and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by NorthStar AI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our platform without express written permission.
You retain all rights to the documents you upload (your resumes, cover letters, etc.). By uploading content, you grant NorthStar a limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your documents.
AI-generated outputs (scores, feedback, bullets, cover letters) are provided to you for personal use. We do not claim copyright over AI-generated responses produced specifically for you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NORTHSTAR AI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. AI-generated feedback may be inaccurate or incomplete. Hiring decisions rest solely with employers — NorthStar AI cannot guarantee job offers, interviews, or any specific employment outcome.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NORTHSTAR AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to NorthStar in the 3 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10 USD.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users via email or an in-app notice.
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, please stop using the Service and cancel your subscription if applicable.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Pennsylvania.
